How to cook Thai Hom Mali rice.

Measure the amount of rice you want to cook and place it in the rice cooker. Add clean water to completely cover the rice. Gently wash the rice with your hands slowly and thoroughly to remove any impurities. Repeat this process 2-3 times. The method of slowly washing the rice can help retain its nutritional value.

Add clean water to the washed rice at a ratio of 1 : 1 - 1½ cups.

Press the button to start cooking. It typically takes around 10-15 minutes to complete. Refrain from opening the cooker's lid while cooking to retain steam and enhance the cooking efficiency.

Measure the glutinous rice and place it in the rice cooker. Add enough clean water to fully cover the rice. wash the rice slowly and thoroughly with your hands to remove any impurities. Repeat this process 2-3 times. This method can help retain its nutritional value.

Pour clean water into the washed glutinous rice at a ratio of rice to water 1:0.7 - 1 cup.

Press the button to start cooking. It takes about 10 - 15 minutes to cook. Avoid opening the lid of the cooker during cooking to prevent steam from escaping.

After the glutinous rice is cooked, let it sit for about 10 minutes to prevent it from sticking to the pot. Using a spoon or rice paddle, mix the rice and let the steam spread evenly until soft and ready to serve.

How to cook Glutinous rice in the traditional way using an earthen steamer:

Place the glutinous rice in a bowl and cover it with clean water. Let it soak for about 2-3 hours to soften the grains.

Drain the soaking water from the rice and put the glutinous rice into the steamer.

Fill the steaming pot with clean water to a depth of about 4-5 inches. Place the steaming basket containing the glutinous rice on top of the steaming pot. Ensure that the lid covers the steamer properly to trap the steam.

Boil water for approximately 20 minutes. Once the rice is cooked, carefully remove the steaming basket from the steaming pot. Then, gently stir the glutinous rice to release excess steam. Scoop it up and place it on a plate and it is ready to be served.
